One of my favorite things to start my day with is a filling smoothie! And fruits like raspberry, blueberry and mango are some of the fruits I always have stocked in my freezer! Smoothies combine water and several other nutritious foods in a single gulp. It’s my on the go breakfast & keeps me hydrated and ready for the day to come.

I sometimes prepare this or similar drinks when hosting gatherings. I find it’s a nice change from the usual juice.

I’ve found that adding celery in juices & smoothies gives a more refreshing taste, it’s sort of a spin on your typical smoothie. It goes well with most berries as well as apples and pears!

Also, one tip when making smoothies, I find the consistency turns out smoothest when you pour in the liquid  items in the blender first and the hard ingredients last. Give it a try & let me know what you think!

Raspberry Smoothie Recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 120g flavored yogurt
  • 1/2 celery stalk
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup frozen raspberries
  • 2 dates, pitted
  • 1/2 tsp honey (optional)
Preparation

Add all ingredients in the blender starting with the most liquid ingredients to the most solid ingredients.

Blend for 30 seconds or until smooth. Check for consistency. If it’s thick, add water a little at a time and blend again. If it’s too runny, add some more fruit and blend again.

Serve cold with fruits on top.
