These dates, coca + apricot energy bites make the perfect breakfast & snack. Prepping them in advance makes makes my breakfast & snacking life a hell of a lot easier. It also helps me avoid reaching out to junk or stacking on extra carbs in my meals. I usually keep some in my purse if I know I’ll be out & about for a while.

Not only is this recipe super quick to prepare & it’s packed with superfoods fruits, nuts & seeds such as chia seeds, flax seeds giving you the boost of energy you need to keep you going all day. Not only is it low in carbs & gluten-free, but it is also packed with fiber & antioxidants. The ingredients also help improve heart, brain & digestive health which could lead to weight loss if the ingredients are consumed frequently enough while following a healthy, balanced lifestyle; meaning eating & resting right! These energy balls also contain Omega-3 thanks to the flax & chia seeds. This is the “good” fat which may help lowering the risk of heart disease, depression and arthritis.

You can definitely store these energy balls in a sealed container for up to two weeks in the fridge & up to 1 month in the freezer!

Cocoa, Dates + Apricot Energy Bites

Makes 30

  • 1/3 cup qamar al deen (dried apricot paste)
  • ¼ cup dates
  • ¼ cup almonds
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds + 1tbsp for garnish
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp flax seeds
Dates, Apricot & Cocoa Energy Balls

Blend all the ingredients till smooth, approximately 2-3 minutes.

Spread some vegetable oil on your hands to create a non-stick effect. And place about ½ tsp of the mixture in your hands and make a ball. Place all the energy balls on a tray and sprinkle remaining sesame seeds.

Refrigerate for a few hours or freeze for an hour before serving.
